What was announced
On June 29, 2026, Cathay Capital announced the launch of Ascendia Autism Care, a platform for evidence based ABA therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder. The platform begins with an unnamed founding affiliate that operates 20 centers across eight states. Cathay said its investment covers both the founding transaction and growth capital, and it did not disclose amounts.
The growth plan the announcement describes
Growth is to come from opening new centers and from partnerships with clinical providers. The announcement says Ascendia plans new centers in all of its current markets within 24 months and expansion into school based therapy.
What Cathay said about its approach
Mark Woods, a partner at Cathay Capital, said the firm wants to back mission driven, clinically rigorous providers and to supply resources and operating support so they can serve more families at the same quality. Jackson Catalano, a vice president at Cathay, pointed to significant unmet need for ABA therapy and to evidence supporting early, comprehensive intervention.
Why it matters to an owner preparing to sell
Analysis: A buyer that describes itself as backing clinically rigorous providers is telling sellers what its diligence will test. Documentation, supervision records and credentialing files are where an owner should expect questions. A platform that grows by opening centers as well as by partnering also has to show how it complies state by state, so a seller in several states should be ready to show the same.
If you are thinking about a sale or about growing across states, the sale and expansion advisory reviews your structure, records and diligence exposure before a buyer or a new state does, alongside your counsel. If you are already in a sale process, your counsel comes first.
