What was announced
Alliance Health's news post, dated August 6, 2026, announces a partnership with Cortica, a physician-led autism services provider. Alliance's CEO is quoted saying the plan is "the first North Carolina Medicaid Managed Care plan to contract with Cortica." The post describes expanded access to neurological therapies for children with autism and other developmental differences in Raleigh and Charlotte, for Medicaid Tailored Plan members.
The model
The post describes an integrated whole person approach that aims to "reduce sole reliance on Applied Behavior Analysis," with care spanning medical, ABA, developmental therapy and family support. It does not disclose financial terms, rates, contract duration or specific ABA service requirements.
Analysis: This is a payer choosing a physician-led model as a way to route autism care. For an ABA only practice, the exposure is to a plan that now has an alternative network door. For a practice with in-house physician or psychologist diagnostics, it is a template for what a plan may want to contract with.
